Hot Tips For Flying

By Francis Mitchell

Booking your family holiday overseas and flying can and should be an enjoyable time of the summer holidays. To keep things running smoothly we offer the following advise.

Long haul flights require a little bit of pre planning and booking the nest seats for you on them is number one on your list. This can be arranged at the booking stage of your flight which is probably the best time to arrange this. A preference for window view or perhaps if you have long legs then an aisle seat would suit you best. Look over the lay out of the seats and select the ones which you and your family like the best.

The emergency exits are normally not suitable for young people for obvious reasons and should not be booked if you are travelling with anyone under 18 years as most likely the stewardess will ask you to leave and take seats in other parts of the plane.

Flight which are delayed are pack and parcel of flying these days. In order to lessen the risk of flying with delays a good tip would be to try and book a straight through flight with no stops should help reduce the waiting time at airports.

A safety point of view around airports would be to keep all belongings close to your side at all times and don't let your guard down as not every traveller is going on holiday.

Making sure you arrive at your airport terminal in time for your flight is a definite plus. No running around until the last minute then missing your flight. Most airports are now asking passengers to arrive at least three hours before take off due to extra security measures and the time it takes passengers to go through.

Make sure your paperwork is in order before arriving. This will include an up to date passport and health cards. You don't want to arrive at an airport and be turned away due to incorrect paperwork.

Making sure you have a seat on board a plane by checking into your flight on the web. Have a safe flight.
