Scotland's Travelling Ideas

By Poppy Hill

Everyone around the world has some connection to Scotland whether they were educated here in Glasgow or have relatives who have since moved away. No matter the reason everyone appears to love coming over to visit the countryside and perhaps take in a few rounds of golf while they are over here on vacation.

The capital city Edinburgh is a fantastic place to visit especially in August when the fringe festival is on throughout the city in different venues. The shows are covered by local radio hosts who themselves started off in the humble Edinburgh Fringe. There is also a Military Tattoo which is live each day from the castle for a few weeks during this month.

The castle is on a mount and is very interesting place to visit. You can hear the one pm gun go off each day on your visit . There are a number of different halls to see such as the National War Museum or St Margaret's Chapel. If you have always fancied seeing the Stone of Destiny , you will be able to visit the stone here in the castle. There is so much interesting history attached to the stone. Planing your visit will normally take around 2 to 3 hours to see each part of the castle.

What about the city of Stirling and all the history that the it is steeped in which include Bannock Burn and William's lasting impression in Scotland. Head over to Robert Bruce visitor centre which explains all about the history which he played in Scotland.

Heading away from the cities and driving north into the Highlands you can visit the likes of Loch Lomond or Loch Ness and even the city of Inverness. A short drive from here you will find the solemn place of Culloden in which the English defeated the Scots in 1746.

Scotland has a large range of towns and cities which are worth visiting including the home of golf itself at St Andrew's and Turnbury or perhaps Perth is a great location for you to visit being small but enough to keep you amused for the weekend with various things to do. There are lots of places to visit which has something for everyone to enjoy.
