Prestwick is one of the many airports which can be found in Scotland. Travelling times into Glasgow are around 40 minutes by car and just under an hour by train which has a direct link to the airport. There are only a small number of agencies within the airport so booking in advance is advisable.
Most of the visitors head north to the nearest city which is Glasgow. Try heading south instead for a relaxing holiday along the A77 and stopping off at any one of the seaside resorts along the west perhaps Maybole, Ayr, Irvine. Lots of interesting stop overs.
A lovely seaside town along this route is Ayr. The journey is fairly quick at around 20 minutes from Prestwick and with lots of shops and restaurants around the area. This is a perfect spot to stop off and look for those souvenirs for your friends and family.
Travelling further down you will drive into a quaint town called Girvan. At first it may appear sleepy but there is lots going on in and around here. Fabulous Chinese restaurant is opposite Asda supermarket and is perfect for sitting in or taking away to eat at home. Lots of your favourite dishes but with a slight Thai flavour to them. Walk over to the harbour from here and you will find a fantastic new park which is opened to the young ones of the area including paddle boats.
Close to Girvan visitors will find a great golfing place called Turnbury. This is one of the famous courses which is often viewed on television during competitions. You don't to play a round of golf to enjoy the facilities here you can book holiday accommodation or have afternoon tea at the club house.
National sites throughout Scotland include many in the area south of Prestwick. You can stop and take photographs or spend some time on the sites looking over the history which surrounds the building in Culzean or other Robbie sites. You will be sure to enjoy your stay on the west coast as there are lots of interesting places to visit which are unique and can only be found here in Scotland.
