While a lot of people are quite intimidated if they eat in an upscale restaurant because of all the rules and etiquette, it will be easy if one learns these. Although it might be hard at first, one will eventually get used to wining and dining in a gourmet place. If one wants to be able to fit in while in a fine dining dahlonega GA restaurant, here are some tips.

Now, the important thing to remember in a gourmet setting is when to use which utensil and which utensil to use for what dish. The general rule to utensil usage is always start from the utensils on the outer region of the plate going to inner. So the first utensils to be used are the bread plate and bread knife found on the upper left corner of the plate because the first dish served is usually bread.

When that is done, the next dish is the soup dish wherein one will use a soup spoon. A soup spoon is the first spoon that one will see in the right side of his plate. The soup spoon usually has a big round head and is also usually bigger than a normal spoon so one can look out for that.

When the soup is finished, the next dish that will be served is salad which is placed on the salad plate. The salad fork, which is used for eating the dish can be found in the left side of his plate and is the first fork that can be seen in the outer part of that side. To give an idea of where to find it, it is the smaller fork there on the left.

Once the salad is all done, then in a few minutes, the main dish is going to be served. Take note that the main dish is usually a meat dish like beef, lamb, or even seafood such as a fish, crab, or lobster. Usually, one will use the main dish fork and knife to eat the main dish but there are times that a sharper knife is given in the event that the main dish cannot be cut by a usual one.

After the main dish is finished, then the dessert is served. In order to eat the dessert, a dessert spoon and fork is found at the top of the plate. When the dessert is served, one will use this fork and spoon for that.

Another thing to remember would be the glasses that are on the table, which all can be found on the upper right portion of the plate. There are three of them where the first is a water glass, then the second is for wed wine, and the last is white wine. The waiter will serve the drinks on their respective glasses.

Before one even enters a gourmet restaurant, these are some of the basic rules that he has to observe. There are a lot of other rules of etiquette that one will have to learn but he can just learn them as he goes along. However, these basic rules for utensil use have to be remembered in order to fit in.
