Grand Bend Accommodation For A Great Lakes Holiday In Ontario

By Ruthie Calderon

Grand Bend is one of those idyllic beach holiday destinations that are located along the Canadian shores of Lake Huron in Ontario. It's a summer hotspot in the Great Lakes region, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every summer from places as far away as New York, Florida and Texas. That's why it's best to look for and book Grand Bend accommodation as early as possible.

The location and type of accommodations obviously has to be just right for the holiday. The top choice is obviously a big vacation rental or luxury hotel right on the beach or as close to the lakeshore as possible. Of course, this may not always be possible for those who have to think about the budget first.

However, that still leaves open a large collection of diverse lodging options. There are a huge number of rentals in the streets close to or even on Main Street. Many have partial lake views and are also easily accessible from the Bluewater Highway or Ontario Street, which basically depends on which way a traveler is driving into town from.

In fact, those driving towards the center of town from Ontario St. Will find a lot of hotels, motels, inns, B&B's and other such establishments lined up alongside the road. There are a few more properties on the other side, as you drive in towards the center from the Bluewater Hwy. Either way, these are the best choices for visitors who are staying here and intend to explore the whole area and all its attractions.

For example, one of the main attractions here is the Grand Bend Motorplex. Huge crowds come here to enjoy what is billed as Canada's largest and longest-running drag race. These racing fans usually have plenty of choices in terms of RV parks, campsites and cheap lodging near the Motorplex.

But the biggest tourist attraction here is Lake Huron. People throng on the beaches, go fishing and hiking, and enjoy boating, water sports and other waterfront activities. For all these visitors, the best choice would be a place to stay with a lake view and fast access to the water.

For families and large groups, a private vacation rental offering a view of the lake will be ideal. For example, a three-bedroom home that sleeps 6-8 people is perfect for a large family. It offers more space, amenities and comfort as compared to a hotel or motel, and it's far more economical too.

Look for places that offer all the standard amenities including a fully equipped kitchen and parking spots for at least two vehicles. High-speed or Wi-Fi Internet is quite common, as are cable, DVD players, music systems, refrigerators, microwaves, etc. A pullout couch would be helpful for groups that need more than three bedrooms. Some properties also have cooks, maids, drivers and other help on call for guests who need them.

It's advisable to find and reserve such a place at least three or four months before the actual trip during the summer holidays. Otherwise, it will be well nigh impossible to find good accommodation in Grand Bend at the last minute. Besides, picking the right place to stay will make the holiday experience that much more fun and highly memorable afterwards.
