Hotel Stars: What They Mean

By Joseph Tranturder

There will most likely be at least a couple times that you will have to travel for your work. Here are some key things that you need to think about if you are traveling.

Arcadia National Park On the coast of Maine, Arcadia National Park is home to the tallest mountain in the East; and 45 miles of historic, broken-stone carriage roads perfect for biking and hiking.

Kill the noise There is nothing worse than forgetting your ear plugs and having to hear a baby cry for your whole trip. You also might just have as tough a time with the noises that the plane itself makes.

5 Star Hotels Let's start with the best, shall we? 5 star hotels are the ones you see in James Bond movies. They are the top of the top, the classiest, ritziest, most heavenly places around. 5 star hotels offer 24/7 room service, valet parking, concierge service, top quality linens, in-room video, big screen TVs, and Jacuzzi bathtubs. Most 5 start hotels boast some of the world's best chefs and gourmet menus as well. They are located in beautiful and convenient areas and everything about them screams luxury and elegance.

Lincoln Memorial Part of Washington DC's National Mall, the Lincoln Memorial is a stunning monument to Abraham Lincoln. American history is never more breathtaking than at the Lincoln Memorial: it is quite massive at almost 100 feet high, 119 feet wide, and 190 feet long.

Make sure you are eating foods that are going to keep you awake and alert when you need to be. Fruits, salads, and fruit drinks are always a good idea. Don't overdo it on the sodas as this can cause stomach problems as well.

Keep it clean You may be too tired to shave, to wash your face, or do anything else, but you will be surprised at what it does for your attitude. Don't forget to bring hand sanitizer.

Hanging Rock State Park The grandeur of the Sauratown Mountains is on full display at Hanging Rock State Park, near Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There's plenty to see, with 5 stunning waterfalls, breathtaking views, and miles of hiking trails.

Stay away from the T.V. Unless you don't have much to do (most business people wish they could say this), then you should probably make sure you are taking time to prepare for presentations and meetings. Don't walk over to your Norwalk, Connecticut hotel and switch on that TV or you will soon find that you have wasted over 2 hours of your life that you won't get back.

Many 2 star hotels do offer a small fitness area and/or a pool. They are usually located around airports, highways, and shopping centers.

Niagara Falls A true wonder of North America, 750,000 gallons of water fall over Niagara Falls every second! Sitting on the border between Canada and the United States, it's actually comprised of 3 waterfalls: American Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls.

Look local This is for security purposes as well as entertainment. You want people to think that you are local so they don't take advantage of you. Make sure you are doing all you can to keep yourself healthy and happy on a business trip.

It may not be leisure but it can still be relaxing and shouldn't cause stress, sickness, or fatigue. It's the little things that can make a business trip enjoyable.
