Explaining Trolling Motor Mounting Bracket

By Gregory Hayes

If you are interested in boats, then you might be interested in engines. What a Trolling Motor Mounting Bracket is and its function. It is actually what discontinued roars in fishing competitions, it s a motor that requires electricity to work. It also makes use of propellers and controllers. It is placed on most small fisher s boats at the bow of the boat.

There is an area on the boat known as the transom. This is where this piece of equipment is normally placed. While it is great, sometimes it has to be taken out from the water. This is due to the fact that it hinders speed and makes the boat drag. Other than this, this machine is great for when fishing, particularly when you must throw in a bait.

This is an invention created by a O. G Schmidt in Fargo North Dakota. He made it by putting together a Ford Model and combining it with a shaft that is not rigid and propeller. He then named it The Minn Kota. A name derived from the area which his company was based in, which is near North Dakota border. The establishment is still in production of major components of this appliance.

Modern ones use a brushed Dc electric motor. They come in 12 volt deep cycle batteries 24 volt and 36 volt, to take advantage of 12 volt batteries produced particularly for marine use. The mechanism is at the end of the shaft inside a compartment that does not allow water to seep in. The propeller is placed directly on the propshaft.

Since these motors have been modernized, there are various types of ways to control it. The three most used types of controlling systems are hand, foot and via remote. With the hand control, you are able to control both the speed and the steering which is clamped to the boat. For the foot controls, there is a fitted pedal which is mounted to the deck and controls the speed and the starter mechanism.

In order to fish you need your hands, so the hand control is a little bit inconvenient. The foot controlled one is better because then you can use your hands for catching fish. The only tough part is maneuvering through rough waters. So instead of all this manual hard work, you can get one that is remotely controlled. It is a little on the pricey side but it s worth all the fish you will be catching.

The first and best designs are the gasoline powered models. But they aren t really as efficient as the newly created models. It uses a pull-start mechanism and requires mostly hand control. The above mentioned models are some best models you can find, if it s all based on the experience you would want to have when you go fishing.

At the end of it all, remember what you really want. You want the absolute best experience as you fish. There is another one that is known as the bow, it is harder to place on the boat. Usually purchased by owners of medium and large boats. It is better in that it pulls the boat really well.
