Enjoy A Fun Adventure Trip With Sherpa Trekking

By Janet Ward

It is never a bad idea to go on vacation once or twice a year. Many travelers like to engage tour firms when it comes to planning for their vacations. However, not every firm is as accommodating to the needs of its clients as one may imagine. If you want an experience that falls in line with everything you have always envisioned about a dream vacation, you might want to try Sherpa trekking.

The first step to enjoying a memorable vacation in Nepal is making sure everything is ready before you travel. For starters, you want to ensure your travel documents are ready in line with the schedule set by the tour company. Fortunately, entry visas are always available for foreigners from most nations upon arrival at the airport in Kathmandu.

The two most renowned attractions in Nepal are the Himalayas and Mount Everest. There are a plethora of trekking trails that lead to these locations, with lots of interesting sites to explore in between. The best part is that one need not be in excellent physical shape to trek. As long as you are healthy and are in exercise routinely, you should be good to go.

This notwithstanding, those planning to trek are always advised to engage in exercises a few months earlier. You might therefore want to exercise through swimming, running, walking and aerobics. Your ultimate aim should be to train your body to switch comfortably to the change of conditions once your tour begins. A normal trek may last from 2 to 5 days. The daily walks last six hours, with meals and rest in between.

If your body does not acclimatize well to the mountainous conditions, you may suffer altitude sickness. This condition occurs when one moves from a low to high altitude area in a short span of time. In most cases, this means an altitude of over 2000m. Symptoms range from nausea, finger swelling, irregular breathing to headache.

The only treatment for this condition is to move to a lower altitude quickly. To avoid suffering from it, it is advisable to go with a tour company that uses trails that allow for good acclimatization. Nonetheless, you will be pleased to know that this is a rare kind of sickness. Just ensure you report any of the aforementioned symptoms when faced immediately.

There are certain essentials that you must have during travel. They include a raincoat, camera, drinking water and sunglasses. These items should easily fit in a tiny backpack. Your firm should avail porters to help you carry your heavy luggage. Be sure to ask whether they will be providing tents, sleeping bags, cooking equipment and mattresses. They should also be responsible for availing climbing gear should you need it during your trek.

It is important to note that Nepalese authorities do not require visitors to be specially vaccinated. However, it would be prudent to talk about your options with your doctor before traveling. Some of the important vaccinations to consider include malaria, hepatitis A, meningitis, rabies, cholera, tetanus, polio and typhoid vaccines. If getting vaccinated, do so several months in advance as not all vaccines can be administered at once.
