The steps involve 4 different methods. The first method is preparing in cleaning the chimney. In this method, you must first determine if chimneys do need to be cleaned. You may want someone to help you in this step by holding one rope and dropping the other side, the rope is attached with a brush at the center. Work together with your partner by using the ropes in pulling up and down the brush. This will work by scrubbing the chimney flue.

The fourth and last method involves cleaning the entrance of the flue by making use of a spade and a shovel. After this, reattach then the damper. Debris in the drop cloth or plastic tarp should be cleaned using dustpan and broom.
