Backpacking In Millisle

By Jonny Blair

Millisle is a cool village near Bangor and Ards in Northern Ireland. It is situated on the Ards Peninsula and is in County Down. This town is just a really popular coastal resort and it also sits not too far away from Belfast, which is the Northern Irish capital city. There is a marvellous windmill in Millisle called Ballycopeland.

The Windmill is definitely one to get on your list as it looks amazing. The best recommendations here:

- The massive Church in Millisle - Abbey Villa Football Club stadium - The Windmill at Ballycopeland and the information kiosk with it

- The park by the beach and the reservoir - Harbour and down to the beach - The Marvellous Church of Saint Patrick, the famous dude

- The Protestant Church - A study centre for the old Northern Irish prison people - A local bar which is called "The 1st and Last"

- Millisle Borstal (former young offender's home)

- The Orange Hall for Protestants in the village

- A place where they tried to build a runway but it was never finished

- The wee farm area on the Road by Woburn
