Montreal is a well-known city located in the Canadian province of Quebec. Located on the Island of Montreal, it is considered to be a cultural mecca for the province. If you are planning a visit there, you may need a good montreal travel guide to get around the city.

The city is famous for many things. One thing is its historic basilicas. Another is its well-loved hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens. The city has been designated as a City of Design by UNESCO for its historic architecture. It used to be the commercial capital of Canada, until that title was taken over by Toronto many years ago. Those who appreciate church architecture and roman designs may enjoy touring these basilicas in the city.

Most tourists tend to avoid going to the city in the winter months, simply because the weather is so cold and harsh at that time. But if you want to brave the weather, then the Underground City has many activities to offer visitors. The Underground City stretches out beneath Downtown Montreal. There are many fine restaurants in the city, and if you enjoy French cuisine, you will surely find plenty of it here.

If you prefer milder temperatures, Montreal tends to have very warm and sunny summers. However, be aware that if you plan to travel there in the summer, you need to book your trip well in advance. Summer is a popular time for tourists because of the festivals going on.

However, if you do want to participate in some of winter outdoor activities, there are plenty of these available. You can go ice skating and skiing, or take the family on a sleigh ride. The winter sports are also very popular, especially hockey, so hotel rooms get full too. Make sure to book yours early.
