Enjoy A Relaxed Lifestyle In Delray Beach Florida

By Jony Mozen

Many Americans who get sick and tired of the cold winters up north move south to the Sunshine State. Here, after all, you can live the good life in a warm climate all year round. In Delray Beach Florida you can have the ocean on your doorstep to boot.

Delray Beach is adjacent to Boca Raton and forms part of Palm Beach. It's on the Florida peninsula, along what is referred to as the Treasure Coast. Miami is less than an hour away, being only about 50 miles or so to the south.

As with most Sunshine State locations, the climate is tropical. In summer it can be hot and humid, with temperatures often hovering around 90 degrees in July and in August. However, even in winter you'll love being outside and maybe even in the water, since the daytime temperatures rarely drop to below 75 degrees. At night in winter it becomes 'cold', with minimum temperatures of about 57 degrees.

Permanent settlement of the area began in the late 19th century. First a house of refuge was built along the coast to give shelter to shipwrecked sailors. Then African-American farmers moved in and before long it was an important farming community, especially for tropical fruit like pineapples. By the 1920s tourism became more important to the town's economy and hotels mushroomed.

The name Delray Beach tells you all about why you'd want to live here. There are miles and miles of stunning beaches where you can make the most of the glorious weather. If you want to do more than just sunbathing, you can go for long walks along the shore or take a dip in the warm water of the Atlantic. A little offshore there is an old shipwreck that has become home to corals and other forms of marine life. It's shallow enough to explore through snorkeling but you can also go scuba diving here.

A healthy body is home to a healthy mind and the community is one of the top places in America for tennis lovers. Even the ATP has caught on and has an annual tournament here. There are several golf courses to choose from too and naturally you can also participate in a variety of water sports to work off the calories you'll consume in the many restaurants in town, especially during Savor the Avenue with its long dinner table and the annual garlic festival. Shopaholics will get their fix by exploring the many charming art galleries and boutiques.

Some older buildings like the Colony Hotel, built in the year 1926, allude to the community's history. Old School Square is housed in the historical buildings of the early 20th century and this is where you'll find an arts and American culture museum and a theater. Japanese culture and art is showcased at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.

If you feel like relocating to the Sunshine State, you won't have any problems finding a new address among the homes in Delray Beach Florida. There is a variety of available properties for sale or for rent, from condos to larger houses. Once you've signed the papers, you'll get to live every day in your very own slice of paradise.
